Cognitive Behavioural Intervention for Trauma in Schools (CBITS)

CBITS is a school-based programme intended to reduce post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression and behaviour problems in pupils. It primarily targets low-income children (aged 10-15) of minority race/ethnicity who have experienced violent victimisation and/or trauma. Ten group sessions (with groups of 3-8 pupils) and 1–3 individual sessions are delivered.

Target group Children and adolescents aged 10-15 who have been exposed to trauma (as victims or witnesses) and are showing signs of traumatic stress as measured by the Life Events Scale.
